“Archives as Muse”
The SRMA Spring Conference will be held October 26, 2017 at the
McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Ave. Denver, CO. 80204
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
What happens when archives and history inspire art? Join the Society of Rocky Mountain Archivists, in partnership with Arthyve and Denver Arts & Venues, October 26th to find out.
Archives as Muse chose 8 artist proposals that were inspired by an archive or archival objects. This public program will feature new and inspired work from archives and on-stage conversations with Colorado artists Esther Hernandez, Nathan Hall, Sarah Fukami, Elyssa Lewis, George Perez, Sarah Walsh, John Lake and Sarah Gjertson.
The specific purpose of Archives as Muse is to attract, inspire, and serve regional creatives and guide them as they explore archival collections in the hope that artists will create a one-of-a-kind piece that will be performed or displayed, and discussed, at a public arts venue.
