A Proclamation by the Mayor
WHEREAS, the purpose of Archives and Records repositories in the City of _______________is to preserve the state's documentary heritage for present and future generations; and
WHEREAS, Archives collect personal papers, photographs, manuscripts, journals, government and corporate documents, maps, electronic media, oral recordings, film and other materials contributing to our history; and
WHEREAS, Archives have the responsibility to provide the public with access to historical records and information; and
WHEREAS, we recognize the valuable role Archives play in preserving and enhancing knowledge of our cultural, intellectual, social and
governmental heritage;
NOW, THEREFORE I, _______________, MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ______________do hereby proclaim October as
"ARCHIVES MONTH IN ________________"
and do hereby invite all ________________residents and guests
to explore during Archives Month their history by visiting the
various repositories that house our documentary heritage.
