Colorado and Wyoming Collection Emergency Experts, Services and Suppliers
Private businesses listed below are representative experts, service providers and suppliers for libraries, archives and museums in the event of an emergency. A listing here is not to be considered an endorsement of specific products or services by the Society of Rocky Mountain Archivists or its Board of Directors.
Be sure to get to know your local First Responders (Fire Department, Police, Emergency Managers) and local emergency services and suppliers (rental companies, hardware stores, wet carpet and floor response) that may not be listed below. These firms can sometimes respond more quickly to an emergency than specialized companies. Check your local yellow pages. However, be careful using anyone but specialists in treating or working around collections.
“Experts,” “Services.” and “Suppliers” are categories corresponding to the national Disaster Mitigation Planning Assistance Database: http://www.matrix.msu.edu/~disaster/ . Colorado or Wyoming may not have many specialized recovery services and supplies so be sure to check the national database if you do not find what you need.
If you discover that any contact information needs to be updated or you know of a resource that should be added please contact Carl.Stewart@Colorado.edu.

Assistance and advice. Materials as available.
In a large, serious emergency, there are advantages to using a single vendor. Know that they will need direction on the treatments to provide for different materials and that they may want to subcontract work. It is advisable to establish a connection with one or more of these vendors and the smaller vendors before you have an emergency and to have formal agreements in place for response
The following vendors are large vendors with experience dealing with library and archives disasters, many are national or international in scope. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list but includes most major vendors who should be considered for a large or small disaster involving collections. Listed in alphabetical order
