SRMA Board Minutes of Meetings
January 18, 2002
The SRMA Board met on January 18, 2002 in Morgan Library, Colorado State University at 10:00 a.m. in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The meeting was called to order by the President, Steve Fisher.
Members present: John Newman, Karen Zoltenko, Kevin Anderson, Steve Fisher, Bridget Burke, and Marge Benham.
Meeting Minutes: John moved that the Minutes of the previous meetings, including the Electronic meetings, July 26-October 1, 2001, November 1-December 17, 2001, and the regular Board Meeting, April 19, 2001, be approved as written. Steve seconded the motion. Carried.
Old Business
2002 Spring Meeting: John reported that the meeting will be held at the Lincoln Center in Fort Collins. Nancy Freeman is arranging the speakers for the Patrons Forum and Bridget is planning the afternoon session. Shawn Boyd is arranging the second Panel forum for the morning session. Lunch will be “on your own” as there are several good restaurants nearby.
The program schedule as planned will be:
Registration, 9:00-9:45
Business Meeting, 9:45-10:00
Patrons Panel, 10:00-11:00
Colleagues Panel, 11:00-12:00
Lunch, 12:00-1:30
Afternoon session, 1:30-3:00
Registration – plans based on having at least 75 people in attendance:
Caterer - $650
Lincoln Center - $252
Speakers - $50 each
It was agreed to charge a fee of $25 for each person, the same price for all, including students.
The theme for the meeting is “To See Ourselves as Others See Us.” John suggested that we have everyone bring guides of their handouts to the meeting. John also suggested that a future meeting be planned around electronic records.
Election of Officers: Officers to be elected this year include a Vice-President/President Elect, Secretary, and Member-at-Large.
Treasurer’s Report: Kevin Anderson reported that we have a balance of $4,820.73. We had $1,765 in income and $2,361.93 in expenses.
Marge moved that we accept the Treasurer’s report. Passed.
New Business
Membership Report: Karen reported that the membership renewal will be going out at the end of January.
Announcements and other Issues
Steve reported that Mark Shelstad has contacted him saying that we need to register our web domain name, which will cost $75. The SRMA Web site is currently on the University of Wyoming Web site. Having our own domain name would make us easier to find. John moved that we delegate Steve and Mark to choose a name and that we approve the cost of $75 for the registration of the domain name. Motion passed.
John is retiring from the Colorado State University Archives to be Archivist for the Water Resources Archives. He will be processing all unprocessed water records and compiling lists of water records held by other facilities. Jim Hansen is retiring as well.
The Colorado Historical Society is undergoing remodeling and will be closing in June with expected minimal reopening in July.
