The annual SRMA spring business meeting was held on June 3, 2005 at the Philip S. Miller Library in Castle Rock, Colorado.
Nancy Freeman, President-Elect/President called the meeting to order at 9:17am.
Meeting Minutes
The Spring, 2004 meeting minutes from Laramie, Wyoming were approved as written.
Treasurer's Report
There was no written treasurer's report. Outgoing treasurer, Janet Waters, had moved to Ohio, the new treasurer hadn't been installed yet. Nancy reported a "healthy balance" of approximately $17,000, due in part to the addition of the treasury of the Colorado Preservation Alliance which merged with SRMA in 2004. The membership approved the verbal account.
Membership Report
Shaun Boyd: putting together the directory, let Shaun know if any information needs changing. 130-140 current members; membership year is Jan-Dec.
Upcoming Conferences
ARMA/SRMA Conference will be held October 26-27, in Denver at the Executive Towers, 1405 Curtis Street, Denver, Colorado. Speakers include Dr. Gregory Hunter, archive and records management specialist, and a speaker from the Northeast Document Conservation Center.
More information will be available in August.
Archives Month
Jody Georgeson of the Telecommunications Group, discussed the purpose of Archives Week/Month and invited interested institutions to participate. She discussed the importance of promoting archives and archival institutions and services to the general public, emphasizing the value of historical records to people's lives. More information will be available on the SRMA web site shortly.
Election Results
Steve Fisher (outgoing Past President) headed the election committee and reported the results.
For uncontested positions were filled:
--Vice President/President elect: Jody Georgeson, Telecommunications History Group
--Treasurer: D. Claudia Thompson, American Heritage Center, University of Wyoming
--Member at Large: Allaina Howard, National Snow & Ice Data Center
--Preservation Member at Large: Diane Lunde, Colorado State University

Constitution and ByLaws
Nancy discussed the changes to the bylaws that had been made available to the membership in draft form on the SRMA web site. She cited the major issues addressed:
--Identified non-voting, appointed, no-term-limits positions: Membership Chair, Website coordinator, Newsletter editor, and Archivist
--Board operations were clarified to eliminate contradictions and to bring laws into conformity with new technology
