When: Spring/Summer 2026 (8-16 hours/week)

Rate: $22/hour, not to exceed 225 hours

Terms: Part time, no benefits or PTO

History Colorado is hiring 1 temporary contractor for a Collections Processing Project in Denver

The Collections Processing Assistant will be responsible for arranging, cataloging and producing a finding aid for the Morel & Associates Inc. collection (MSS.4034) supervised by the Temple Buell Associate Curator of Architecture. All manuscript materials and artifacts will be comprehensively documented in Argus.net. Producing a finding aid will include a folder level inventory of the manuscript collection. Cataloging will include descriptive and technical metadata, locations, numbering of physical objects, photography and uploading images. Work will be held at a History Colorado facility in the Denver Metro Area.

The Collections Processing Assistant will update the MSS.4034 catalog record in our database as well as creating spreadsheets and a finding aid that will provide supplemental information for the manuscript record. The Collections Processing Assistant will work to ensure best practices of object handling and basic standards of archiving are upheld. They will create weekly status reports on progress and may be asked to contribute to or write pieces for social media, a blog, or other public outreach that supports the project.

Collections Processing Assistant Duties:

- Inventory and Arrange paper archives & manuscript materials

- Number physical artifacts following History Colorado processes and upholding History Colorado standards

- Update records in Argus.net database and create finding aid

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, history, art history, anthropology, or related field

- Demonstrated expertise in basic metadata, use of a scanner, and archival work

- Must be organized and detail-oriented in verbal and written communication

- Demonstrated experience in independent work

- Ability to work at a computer for 8 hours/day

- Ability to lift items up to 50 pounds, climb stairs, and crouch to lift boxes

- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
