Preservation

The Colorado Preservation Alliance (CPA) founded in 1989, merged with SRMA in 2004 so that the work of preservation in the region would continue. Resources are based on the work of the CPA. If you have questions or comments or would like to be more involved in preservation of Colorado and Wyoming libraries, archives, museums or other heritage collections, please contact the Preservation Member-at-Large.

Preservation Study Kits

The preservation study kits are available for rental to any institute. Use them to help you to maximize preservation of your collection. The kits were designed as self-educational tools to assist those responsible for housing and care of historical resources across Colorado and Wyoming, especially those in small libraries, archives and historical societies outside the Denver-metro area.

Two kits are currently available:

SRMA Environment Kit Loan Form

SRMA Photo Kit Loan Form

Each kit Reference Manual follows the same basic format: borrowing information; explanatory materials; instructions for use of equipment; resource materials; bibliography; evaluation form.

The kit materials are packed in a heavy duty case with custom foam cutouts to hold components securely during transit.

Rental fee is $50.00 for SRMA members and $100.00 for non-members. The rental fee covers shipping to the borrower, handling and insurance costs. The borrower is responsible for return shipping and insurance.

Contact the Preservation Member-at-Large with questions.
